I had the same problem, accidentally burned off the TX and RX pins on the front.
They are tricky to use because of the stuff on the back of the screen, and it is hard to put the motherboard back into place.
I would recommend using some kind of conductive glue or similar, so you can remove it easier when done jailbreaking.
