All it means, for both devices, is that no one has reported finding its connections.
In other posts I have been more explicit.
I must have been tired when I wrote that one.

The SoC itself has 7 of them IIRC and Linux, like all *nix systems, MUST have an operator's console to boot and run.
That does not mean it needs anything wired to it, nor even the pins on the SoC brought out where they can be found.

Note:
KOA == i.MX6 - single core
KOA2 == i.MX7 - dual core
(It is "Android Ready" which may or may not mean Amazon/Lab126 will stop building their own custom Linux system and start using Google's).
