Looking further into it, I'm going to blame Logitech.

I recently installed a new programmable Logitech mouse. If I install the Logitech software to program the mouse, I get the slow startup problem. If I than install the Garmin software, the problem goes away. I'm going to uninstall the Logitech and Garmin software and live without the programmable part of the mouse.

Not to self, try a MS mouse next time.
