Paper is awesome in that combines high contrast (white whites and black blacks) without brightness. what I'm looking for is that white/black constrast... and judging from the videos the Max Carta is the whitest of all, but sometimes cameras give you the wrong idea, hence my question - to people who have seen them in person - whether its worthy losing the cores and the touch screen for the legibility.

I'm not conversant with the technology but if you see the video comparison between the Sony and Remarkable, while using the same technology (Carta, which is, i believe also the Onyx´s) the Sony is not only whiter to the camera lens, its also whiter to the reviewers. Have the people of Remarkable added another layer for those write/sketch capabilities? i don't know but the end result is - for my personal case which, is almost exclusively "reading" - really poor, even outdoors in sunny days it isn't "easy on the eyes"

Again, in my personal taste, contrast is more important for reading than smoothness/definition, my mind can re-construct the details so to speak, since we only use 28 characters over and over, what i need is for them to pop out of the "white snow" so my brain can register them without effort.
That white/black contrast is very important to me also, and really helps with preventing eye strain. I have a 6" Boyue T62+ with a front-light, which I normally always have on at the lowest possible setting... and that tiny bit of light makes the screen background so much whiter compared to my old Kindle which has no front-light.

I am hoping that Boox will add a front-light (especially with the blue filter night-time option) to one or all of these devices. I think the Boox Note would be pretty much ideal for me if it had a front-light (including amber night option.)

Booxtor, do you have any idea whether there are any plans to add lighting/night lighting eventually?

Other than that, the Max2 and Boox Note look very impressive. I had been hoping to buy a reMarkable, but would prefer Android and these Boox specs. I also really like that the Note has a microphone and dual speakers. I think it would also be an ideal size for me, although the Max2 used as a monitor is also tempting.

I do have a few questions though, if anyone can answer these:

1. Can you underline and take notes on ePubs, or is that only for PDFs? (I'm most interested in the answer to this question... and I'm guessing the answer is no, only PDFs.)

2. Can you increase the text size of:
- the dictionary definitions shown?
- the titles of the books and other OS text?

3. Can you read both PDFs and web pages in landscape mode - turning it either direction - making the text larger and more easily readable? (For example, in the video Booxtor pulled up this forum, but it looked waaay too tiny for me to read. It seemed like it would be much more readable in landscape with large text. Is it easy to make that adjustment on this device?)

4. Are these screens supposed to be virtually unbreakable like the reMarkable screen? Does Flexible Carta screen mean that it's plastic rather than glass? Is screen breakage less likely? Less likely to scratch?

5. Is the cover included, and what is it like? Does it hold the tablet securely? Is there a place to securely store the stylus? Does it seem like it might offer any significant drop protection?
