And for city cats, there's plenty of danger from cars and, sadly, from people.

No, I don't think she meant anything really; it seems it's just the way too many people have been conditioned to think--that cats who cost hundreds of dollars are special and must be pampered, and the rest are just riffraff who can fend for themselves.
