Update: Reinstall Didn't work. Running Calibre in Compatibility mode - Win 8 did fix it. No more freezing. No more UI flashing. Very little lag now.

Thank you for the rant.

I did a Windows Update this morning on Windows 7, and had a lot of troubles. Rolled it back, and everything is now fine.
