I checked Kobo Canada. They are selling two versions of The Opium War. The more recent version - November 2000

The more recent version has a new preface by the author that reflects China's resumption of sovereignty over Hong Kong. It's $CAD 31.99

They are also selling the original version of the book for $CAD 1.32
It looks like a straight scan of the printed version. One hopes the newer version is more e-friendly.

I bought the older version. It does look interesting but I didn't want to blow 30 bucks on something that I probably will not get around to reading. It will probably die on the slopes of Mt TBR.
