It linked me to KSM08, though there I was told "KSM 08 is outdated, please go to the KSM 09 thread." I installed KSM09. Then I intalled KA1 from here:

Now my device doesn't work. I can only restart it when holding the button for a really long time.

The only screen I get is this:

Attachment 161646

Any idea on how to fix this?
I've responded to this in the Kobo Start Menu 09 thread in this message: KSM 08 Message #28.

Basically, the point that your KA1 turns off and back on with a long press on the power button is a good sign that you should be able to do a factory reset. Please note that a factory reset is exactly what it sounds like -- your KA1 will be set back to where it was when it left the factory, added books, fonts, etc. will all be removed and the firmware will at the factory version so will need to be updated.

Good luck!
