I just use the Renamer program.
But that is not at play here, as most of the ebook files either have non-descript file names or partial ones.

Thanks for that info, and it is always interesting to hear how others do things, and though not relevant in my case, I do any editing required, using Sigil, and sometimes some of my own companion programs I have created for specific things.
In this instance, like my story in first post indicates, I am just doing some pretty quick basic things, and avoiding having to go to too much trouble, as I do this most days, and the quicker the better, as it is a chore enough.
And all is done for backup purposes really, or just for the day I decide to change to a device that needs a specific file type.
As my database in calibre grows bigger and bigger, I like to keep it well managed, and part of that is how titles and names etc look. I like to know at a glance that it is a title, extraneous text removed.
