Sorry, but you are just wrong, incorrect citations because the student refuses to follow the teachers directions can very well result in black marks and any amount of complaining isn't going to help.

If a teacher says you need read this specific eBook version of a book and you need to use a program that uses ADE page numbers, then that's what the students need to do. The teacher is well within rights to fail the student for not doing the work properly because the student doesn't know what to read and cannot properly cite.
