I have seen nothing like this behaviour.

A couple of thoughts:

If you are connecting the reader to Calibre as a device - have a look at the settings in "Sending Books to Devices" and in the specific PocketBook HD plug-in in "Plugins/Device Interface Plugins".

If you have a spare SD card - you could try sending the books from Calibre to the SD card, then popping the SD card in to your reader to see how the Pocketbook interprets the title and metadata that way.

These are not solutions, but merely suggestions for ways to fathom what is happening.
