There seems to me to be always the issue of flaky firmware and half-baked updates with these devices, both from Onyx and from ReMarkable, to name just two.

I have an iPad - not the newest - but it still works fine as a back-lit reader.

I'm still waiting for an 'eInk-or-similar' device with a competent firmware set and with a system current to the rest of the marketplace, rather than firmware about 2 generations removed from the current version that's out there.

I guess I'll just have to wait. But you know what? so will my money.
