And, at least for me an e-reader has saved me money. The mass market paperbacks I picked up ran between $6.99-9.99. But my ebooks tend to range anywhere from $0.99-3.99.

How do you know the iPad wasn't a gift or saved up for?
So you are giving me $140 for a new Kindle since you seem so flush.
Now that is where we differ, ebooks I buy usually run $1.99 to $2.99 or free. Paper books typically $1 or less. But unless it is a special cookbook, I don't buy new books.
