It was more annoying than anything else - a WTF? moment when it occurred. It was also a side effect of playing with hardware, so there were slots on the back normally covered by metal shims that weren't present, allowing dust to get in and accumulate.

Don't blame you for the latter, but Win10's built-in firewall is generally adequate. I haven't bothered with a third-party product here.
