I like the one in post 1. Love the old typewriter, though maybe make it a little smaller and the font bolder. I also prefer the original title, though this depends upon what the book is about.

If it's about pre-writing exercises, research or planning, I still think the first title is better. If it's more general, about the process of writing, a kind of "Becoming a Writer" (Dorothea Brande) then the latter title suits more.

I see what Cin means about the '60s wallpaper, maybe a plainer background would be better. This would give you lots of room for a clear, bold black title font and a nice red bold font for your name.

PS The angle of the fountain pens looks a little aggressively phallic.
