I just got a Fitbit Charge 2 in Boxing Day sales. Set a target of 7,000, but most days I doing at least 10,000 (even on Sunday when it was 45 C). I also use the 250 steps an hour feature - my target is at least 10 a day. Early yet, but the factual feedback (not the stupid messages and glitz) does seem to motivate me - also bought some hand weights.
Stopped the booze about 20 years ago. After my third divorce (all amicable) I took stock of my life. Realised I didn't really like the stuff or its effects, so I stopped drinking it. A couple of years later on a very hot day someone offered me a beer, I accepted a small glass - was two-three days before the foul taste disappeared, haven't had any since. Also stopped smoking (realised how much it was costing me) and eating meat which I never really liked either.
I don't have a weight target yet, partly because I am not sure what I weigh - I'll ask my cardiac rehab therapists later today, they weigh me twice a week and write it down, but I never asked them what it was
