Heehee. The novellas in the Psy/Changeling series are often set back in time

. While they don't HAVE to be read to get the full gist of the overarching political plot, many feature some of my favorite couples of the series.
I usually reread the series in published order, but reread it in chronological order last year. I think I would stick with published order for first-time readers. And if you really don't want to jump back in time, I would say just to skip the novellas. You can always go back and read only the ones (novellas) with the characters you are interested in. The novella stories contribute to the world-building, but are more focused on the individual romance than the full-length books. All the major plot twists and turns take place in the full-length books only.
Of course when you get to
Allegiance of Honor you may be wondering who some of the characters are, but it's a huge cast so that can happen even when you've read everything
