That's very interesting. I, too, was a bookworm even before school (which doesn't mean I spent all my time cooped up with books. In summer I played outside with other children most of the time. But winters were spent mostly reading, and winters are long and dark where I live). But going back in time? Nah. I cannot imagine myself reading less as a child. I accepted long ago that I'll be wearing glasses for the rest of my life.

I have to say that although my vision is extremely poor without glasses, I can see pretty well with my single vision lenses (they're cylindrical, so I guess I have astigmatism too, to a degree at least). I use the same pair of glasses for all activities, for outdoor and for computer (have to enlarge the fonts, though) and for reading. Only if I have to read really tiny print, I'll take the glasses off and put my nose near the text to see it.
My eye doctor said that my vision is quite well compensated with my glasses. I haven't needed bifocals so far yet.
