So, I copy the Update_dummy_0.0.N.bin file to the root of the Kindle's USB storage, and gracefully remove storage from Windows PC. Update Kindle menu is grayed out, and when connecting back to see storage, the Update_dummy_0.0.N.bin has disappeared.

Is this kosher, or should I begin the RMA process
