Just to be clear, when reading epubs, the issue is that the area used for a typical superscript footnote link is tiny. It is just the size of the character. It is easy to miss and hence trigger the page turn. If you increase the font size, it becomes easier.

For kepubs, the renderer makes the tap area for a footnote link larger. That makes them easier to hit and the footnote popup makes reading books with lots of footnotes a lot pleasenter.
