Code orange= advisory
Code red=warning
Though we usually only get advisories for extreme temperatures/wind chills/heat index.
Watches and warnings are for storms.
Of course on the temperature that varies from place to place.
Up north gets heat advisories for over 95°F. Here it is 110F.
We might or might not get an advisory for 32°with a windchill in the single digits. My mom and assorted others got advisories and warnings for barely freezing temperatures. Of course, those areas get cold roughly every 30 years.
