Modern e-readers with their varying screen sizes and font sizes plus things such as adjustable margins guarantee that hard page numbers are virtually impossible. A 5" Sony or Kobo Mini is going to display a book in far more pages than the paperback or hard cover printed version or the pages displayed on a Kindle DX with a 9.7" screen. That is the nature of the technology Demanding a page by page correspondence between a printed book and ebook is only going to happen with a PDF file printout and a non reflowing PDF reader and file and the file may be unreadable on most 6" screen ebook readers.
To me this is like asking that every printed version of a given book, whether hardback, paperback or whatever have the same number of pages. It does not happen and most likely never will.
