I read that 5.xx.xx.1 models can do a single downgrade, if they have never been connected to the internet. You refer to my posting. It's not meant as strict as actually written: If you've created the OTA blocker dir first, you won't get the nasty autopupdate. In this case you also can register and use the device online as intended.
Your problem
could have been the "testing" of the voiceview files update. Because I guess that this downgrade is possible ONLY ONCE - and for jailbreaking, you have to use this "single shot" for downgrading to the initial factory build, not just testing...
