uuids are never changes, unless you copy a book from one library to another, in which case the book copy gets a new uuid. IIRC even doing a database rebuild will preserve uuids. And OPF files are a backup mechanism, theya re auto-generated by calibre for each book record some time after the metadata for theat book is changed.
