So I tried to update to the latest version which again worked OK, but after some time it wanted to connect to Kobo desktop, which I don't want, since then it will sync and I don't want that. So I put back an older version (3.19). Again this wants me to download Kobo desktop but this does not work (the download works but the device does not connect. Any ideas what I should do?
Several things come to mind like reinstalling desktop from scratch, because right now I can't even install any other software (the device does not show up in Windows 10)
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but why turn wifi on at all?

Like you, I have an Aura that I never sync and am not really interested in updating, so I never turn wifi on. Problem solved.
