It is not intuitively obvious that the "assumed" or "implicit" logical relationship between Virtual Libraries and View Manager Views differs between the above-referenced Job Spy GUI Tool and View Manager itself.

  • Job Spy "assumes" either a 1:1 or many:1 relationship between or among VLs and Views.
  • View Manager "assumes" a 1:1 or 1:many.


Simply stated, if you have many VLs that should point to the same View, then Job Spy can help you because its functionality is triggered by the use of the Virtual Library pushbutton (or clicking the JS menu item).

If you have many Views that point to the same VL, then only VM itself can help you.

If you pick a tool but soon find yourself thinking that "this is backwards", then try the other tool.
