Here goes, did the "go advanced" & found about using attachments!

'Calibre 1.jpg' is the clip of 'ungrouped' books sorted by date; 'Calibre 2.jpg' is the clip of expanded group author, then selected "M"; 'Calibre 3 tag.jpg' is clip of group by tags.
