I have a Kindle KPW1 which I used from September 2012 to September 2016 as my only e-reader.
Since September 2016 I've been using a Kobo Aura ONE (with sometimes dropping back to the Kindle for half a year, waiting for the firmware to actually become stable and usable...)
The KPW1 is a backup reader now.
I also have a 5 year old Samsung Galaxy Tab, but I've never used it for reading e-books. I only use it for PDF's (manuals, mostly), some internet, and Youtube, but its getting a bit long in the tooth. (It would have been longer, had I not updated it to a custom Android 5.1.1 ROM. It can't really handle anything newer, even though there are Android 6, 7 and 8 builds for it that _sometimes_ work...)
