If you like to read a lot, but get eye strain, I'd recommend a dedicated e-ink reader. Also, even though tablets are pretty light weight these days, they are still heavier than a Kindle and harder on my wrists for longer term reading.
Tablets IMHO just aren't the same for longer reading sessions. I occasionally read on my iPad if I have a library book through Hoopla or Axis 360, but in general, I still prefer an e-reader. I have a 4 yr old paperwhite that is still going strong and I would consider it my primary reading device.
