On topic - last night I warmed myself with a Bells' White Winter Ale and Seventeen Twelve Bourbon.
We went for our jog on the creek when it was still 24F this morning, so alternating water for hydration and coffee for WARM.

Thanks. I'd really done all I could do about foxes, coyotes and racoons, the only real danger here, though there have been reported sightings of a mink in the area, which would be at least as bad. But none of them would have been able to get into the coop -- the 1/4" wire mesh is quite effective against mere nuisance predators. Bears, however, will not be stopped short of major electrification once they've decided there's food available. And, if one chooses to live in bear country, one also chooses to live with bears. But that doesn't change the pain and guilt.
Coffee this morning, and a glass of OJ. But I can see an afternoon of knitting, listening to a PD James book, and drinking tea in my immediate future.
