I've very pleased that your car's front crumple zone did just what it should. Much better that the car should be a write-off than the occupants!

I think you're certainly owed something for pain and loss of time, not just replacement costs for what was destroyed.

You car picture reminds me of the time a tree fell on my car. Although in that case it was the the support pillars that did their job, and stopped me (& family) being crushed.

It's wonderful the amount of work that's gone into car design to make driving a lot safer when things go wrong.
