Thanks for all that. So with the newer firmware you can no longer hack it to get the tiled homescreen? That's what I did with my current firmware.

Can you dump the ads? (Recommended/Find your next great read)

I'm not terribly worried about speed improvements. It's an e-reader after all. I don't expect blazing speed. The menu and the author tab sound really nice, but I think not enough for me to drop the tiled home screen.
