I haven't read all the posts in this thread, but one thing in the product description page stuck out to me:
Is this known? And is it different from the "old" KA1? I'd been under the impression that this was simply a storage boost. That language isn't on the original product page.
Even if it's faster, though, I don't personally see any reason to upgrade. All of my books don't even amount to a single gigabyte, so I'm nowhere near filling my "small storage" KA1. I doubt I'd even come close to filling it if I did read comics, because we're still talking about hundreds, and I've never once needed access to my entire library and been unable to go to my computer.

It’s pretty easy to fill with comics. I can fit about a couple hundred volumes of manga on mine and most of those B&W only which saves a little space. Comics are quick reads and usually part of series so it’s pretty easy to amass a lot of these.
Also it seems like Rakuten has started selling the 32GB KA1 as the Comic Edition in Japan. Propbably to compete with the manga model of Paperwhite available over there. Doesn’t seem like its limited there either.
