A "Wall Banger" is a book so bad it incites me to hurl it against the nearest wall. Repeatedly and with great violence, hence the name. And real westerns by my definition include Zane Grey, Louis L'Amour, Max Brand and the writers you've mentioned. Not the sort of books whose covers consist of half naked "Western era" couples in the typical Harlequin Clinch pose and have plots more suited to soap operas or even softcore porn.
