My point is the search is probably working. When you look at your library in cover grid mode if every book has an image (any image) then it has a cover. See attached for a cover grid without covers.

You can use the quality check plugin to search for small covers.
I checked some books with the file manager and I found no cover.jpg. Still the book did not show with cover:false. Also using the QUality plugin and search for covers of <20 Kb and even1Kb, nothing was found.

But when I look in grid mode I see many books with "strange" covers. Eg. First page of the book, MS Word title, Mumsey Publication cover etc. When I delete those covers then the books do show up with cover:false.

So, I guess I will to inspect 5400 books visually, select all those with strange covers and then automatically download the covers again.
