I've had my Gmail account for years, but could never get Calibre set up properly to email my book to my kindle account from Gmail. However I recently set up a Microsoft 360 account and had to get an outlook email account, and THAT works fine with Calibre when emailing books to Kindle.

Is there something wrong or odd about gmail that makes it difficult to use with Calibre?

For the record, I have no problems now that I'm using Outlook, but I am curious.
