Gifts typically don't have sales tax. Prizes you either pay sales tax or social security tax depending on the 1099. I learned that when I won a prize from game show network.

According to the Federal Trade Commission if you get a product for review, you are required to put in a disclaimer saying you got the product in exchange for a review.

Interesting, but, from what I understand, they are based out of Vancouver, Canada. Not sure if Canadian customs practices are different.

At any rate, buyer beware.
