With side lamp I would use 8-9. So without any other light source other than the Voyage, probably 6. Possibly 5. Anything above 9 with sidelamp, or 6 with no other lamp blinds me. My eyes are light sensitive.
I do use bold setting on #2 and bookerly. Bold does make a difference for contrast, especially in the dark.

Thanks for the thorough explanation of your numbers. I wasn't expecting anybody that doesn't ever read in a dark room to do a research project, but the more responses the better.
