This year seems to be the year of the unlocked phones and there aren't as many no-contract phones this year, especially under $30.

At $8, the ZTE Maven 3 would be a nice player for audiobooks and music. At that price, you can stash them all over the house, in your vehicles, and at work. Just pair it with a small Bluetooth speaker.
