The boxes are sized to make it easy to store 4x6 photos. The photos go in archival-quality organizers like this, and then those organizers fit in the boxes. I used the boxes to organize all the originals of old family photos. Then I discovered that paperbacks lined up in them perfectly and used them to organize my bookshelves.
