As an FYI, and it sounds like this is would be a minor thing for you, but if you do look at Kobo you may notice it claims support for MOBI format. While that's technically true, the usage apparently leaves a lot be desired so you likely will want to convert them to EPUB. Sorry, can't help you on the other questions.
