It has a glass e-ink substrate that is prone to breaking, like all kindles. When the substrate cracks, the screen is unusable.
I think the voyage and oasis may have a glass layer on top which may make them a little hardier, but not by much. Remember that even phone screens with gorilla glass will crack.
The good news is the PW3 is relatively cheap.
