I just picked a bunch of ePub eBooks randomly and I hit 1GB at 63 eBooks. That falls very much short of the 3,000 you are quoting. So no, 1GB is not enough. Not even close. Another set of 1GB of random ePub came to 273. I still don't see 3,000 ePub fitting in that 1GB of space.
