So make Dad switch desks with you for a week. Then he might see that the *location* makes a huge difference.
eggs: 50 cents difference to the next size of eggs? Wow. Back in the 90's (early internet), I read a government pamphlet stating: if the difference between a dozen of one size and a dozen of the NEXT size is 10 cents or less, the bigger ones are a better value for the money. Volume-wise. So, since mine are usually priced exactly 10 cents apart, I get the X-Large eggs. Jumbo would be an even better buy (another 10 cents) but then the size starts affecting baking results.
