We were understanding it was a phase. Some of us need/want the technology and people can compromise on transient issues.
And we understand, even if we are not in (the first line of) the game, that production has compromises. Ask yourself: why not rk3288? More speed, better battery - on paper. But if nobody uses that yet, the snapshot of relevant combined global R&D effort (also and especially as preliminary to mass production) must not be mature.

Edit: if you could take any smartphone, and connect the EPD screen to the special slot on the board... ; ) Not really
