I don't have a real answer to your question except to let you know that you don't have access to the Ipad file system. I doubt it'll work for you in that way. There may be a way to get to the clippings.txt file but I suspect there isn't unless it's provided by the Kindle app itself. Maybe they have a way to export clippings.

You can access your clippings on Amazon's site, I think. I don't recall the details of that but I seem to remember that it's possible. I don't make many notes so it's not something I've really dealt with much.

If you want to switch to a tablet for reading and you're mostly concerned with personal documents you might be able to use another app. I sold my last Ipad a few years ago so I can't help with that but on Android you could use Moon+ reader to read your documents and it'll save your notes in a variety of forms, including HTML and some others. You can store your books on Dropbox and access them from Moon+ and I think even save notes back to Dropbox. I'm not sure of that last part but I think I remember seeing that. In any case you can save and share notes.

There are other apps and probably some of them will do the same things. I'm familiar with Moon+ so that's the one I mentioned.

If you're concerned that Kindles are fragile or the batteries don't last a long time, that's not the case. I live in a retirement home and I'm a gadget freak and I've had a lot of them and I'm always helping my neighbors with their Kindles. These things last a very long time and they're very reliable.
