What you are "missing" is a Kobo ereader and Calibre. There's a plug-in that perfectly syncs the device to your Calibre library, automatically. Kindle *used* to have this feature, too, until Amazon killed it and required a jailbreak to do it. Latest firmware updates, of course, can't/haven't been jailbroken.
