I agree that it would be nice if larger images could be posted to the forums.
On the other hand it is virtually no extra effort to post larger images as attachments, so the whole thing is basically a non-issue. Attachments also have the advantage of staying on the MR server, while hotlinked images often vanish. So educating users to use attachments might be a good idea.
Perhaps it would be a good thing if Dr. Drib's standard image deletion notice specifically included some hint to the attachment option.
