For me, who is HYPER sensitive to this sort of thing, the uneven illumination stands out like a sore thumb. It doesn't change tint like previous gen Kindles with the green/red, but it does gets more yellow in parts of the screen which can cause the illusion of tint. Either way, another year that Amazon still can't get it right, which is a shame.
Still, this is absolutely the closest they've gotten.

Thank you for the pics! I must say the screen looks excellent to me! The best lit kindle I have seen so far. (Although I do have a good Paperwhite, but it was after many exchanges) The Oasis 2 looks very even and I shockingly don't see any colors, something I always see on lit kindles. The slightly uneven illumination doesn't bother me at all, it's the color blotches that do, so it's nice to see the Oasis 2 doesn't appear to have them. This, along with the KoboH20, are as good at lit e-readers come, I think. Enjoy it!
