It seems like their delivery service has teething problems. None of these things are unfixable and certainly happen to FedEx and UPS (don't check properly to see if people are home, lose packages) but it seems to happen more often with the Amazon service.

Oddly, when my package came finally the guy was in a white unmarked Ram van. It's possible he was a manager sent out to bring the package specifically since executive support was on the case, but you would think that clearly marking trucks would be a good idea.
